How It's Made

Born of Fire, Finished in Gold

Every LUMIRA piece begins the same way it did generations ago — with breath, fire, and a pair of practiced hands. In an age of machines, we still make our glass the slow way, because that is the only way to make something worth keeping.

1. The Fire

It starts with a rod of pure Pyrex glass, chosen for its clarity and strength. In our Cairo workshop, the artisan holds it to a flame burning past 1,000°C until the glass softens and begins to glow.

2. The Breath

With a steady breath and decades of instinct, the artisan shapes the molten glass — drawing out a slender neck, rounding the body, forming a domed stopper. There is no mould and no template. Each curve is judged by eye and hand alone, which is why no two pieces are ever identical.

3. The Gold

Once the form has cooled, the final magic begins: real 24K gold, painted by hand in fine detail and fired into the glass so it will never fade. This is the moment a bottle becomes an heirloom — catching the light like the treasures of ancient Luxor.

Made by Hand, Made to Last

From the first flame to the last brushstroke of gold, a single piece passes through several firings and many hours of skilled work. The small variations you may find are not flaws — they are the artisan's signature, proof that a human being, not a machine, made this for you.
